Easter exhibition: Esther Gerster
March 15, 2020 @ 8:00 am - June 21, 2020 @ 5:00 pm
A rich and intimate immersion into the Easter events is made possible by the pictures that Esther Gerster is exhibiting in the Wegman House foyer of the Arlesheim Clinic from 15 March to 10 May 2020. In 8 steps they lead through the days of Holy Week to the octave of Easter Sunday, in 7 steps through the steps of Christian initiation and together with 13 weekly sayings by Rudolf Steiner through the circle of the year. Most of the pictures are executed with bright plant colours in a vivid layering technique and bear witness to the expertise that Esther Gerster has built up over the years. Her painting is both joy and research at the same time: it carries the question of how living transformations in natural and mental-spiritual life can be followed and expressed in painting.
Esther Gerster first trained as a kindergarten teacher and worked in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. She then trained as a painter in Vienna and worked in Finland for 3 years. Back in Switzerland she paints and teaches painting and drawing. In addition, she was on the Executive Council of the Anthroposophical Society in Switzerland for several years, gives public tours of the Goetheanum and lectures.
